D.O. Rias Baixas

Bodegas Castro Baroña was founded in 1996 in Galicia. The objective was to establish a successful project in the region "Rías Baixas". The winery is located in Mels, in the heart of the Salnés region. In an incredibly beautiful landscape, with an almost perfect combination of climate and geography, our vines grow under the best conditions. They are processed in a wine cellar, according to the criteria of the most modern technological equipment. The Denomination of Origin Rias Baixas D.O. exists since 1980 with three defined areas "Val do Salner, Condado do Tea and Ribera do Ulla. " All the wines of Castro Barona have the guarantee of origin of this name "Rias Baixas. This is a certificate that only the wines of this region are given under the strictest controls of the entire production process.

Generally the D.O allows the use of several grape varieties, but Bodegas Castro Baroña uses only the Albariño grape. This will transmit the character of the Salnés region; known for its high quality, its straw-yellow colour and its bright green golden sparkle. The wines in Val do Salner, Condado do Tea and Ribera do Ulla surprise pleasantly because of its fine floral and fruit aroma, medium intensity and medium long duration. On the palate, they are fresh and mellow with plenty of body. The acid are balanced, harmonious with numerous nuances. In the mouth it is pleasant, elegant and complete. Castro Barona Albariño sells three of these wines: Lagar do Castello, Castro Barona and Bruxa. We have an annual production of bottles ca.250.000 available.
