De Los Ríos Prieto

D.O. Ribera del Duero
D.O. Rueda
Bodegas de los Ríos Prieto S. L. was born in Pesquera de Duero, close to the banks of the Duero river. It is a family owned company with the aim to make High Expression wines. Félix de los Ríos, founder of the winery, is a creative man who loves the soil and wine. As a young man he set up a plumber’s workshop and it went very well for him. Meanwhile the Ribera del Duero region was growing and more wineries were being built. In the late 90’s he finally decided to go back to the roots of his family and started his own winery in 2000.

His family had been making wine for over 100 years, but only for their own consumption or for the people in Pesquera de Duero and surrounding area. When the winery was build in 2002 his son Javier de los Rios decided to join the wine making business and is full dedicated to it since then. He continued with the family tradition and started to make wine by using not only the latest technological advances but also the skills learned for decades.

In these days the winery has a production of around 300.000 bottles and is the third biggest winery in Pesquera de Duero which is actually a small town with 500 inhabitants but 25 wineries.
At the moment the winery has about 65 ha of own vineyards which are between 30-100 years old. The most special one, which is approximately 100 years old, is called “La Pintada” and belonged to Javier’s grandfather.
He always said that this vineyard was there since he was a child. All grapes are picked up by hand and selected again by hand on the selection table in the winery.

Brillant wine with an intensive mauve red colour, balsamic flavours and preserve fruits as a persistent sensation in mouth of harmony and fullness.
